Into the new year

2025 ended up being one of our best years yet. We had an excellent turnout for RailDays in September, and wrapped up the year with a significant donation.

Our first move of 2025 was to switch CN 56323 from the North track to the South track, and do the same with the JZ steam locomotives from South to North.

The Museum gained some new members and we’re looking forward to having some new ideas for this year. The HO layout was moved to the shop and temporarily reassembled for display. Over the off season it will be taken apart and moved into the back room for permanent display.

Our season wrapped up with the Niagara Model Railway Show in October, but the year ended with a fantastic gift from National Steel Car Ltd as they donated NSCX 11, a GE 50 ton diesel used at the plant since it was new in 1954. This was the last of the critters still operating, recently replaced by bigger SW switchers. #11 served the plant well for over 60yrs. We are very grateful for this generous donation, and we look forward to having our guests see this new acquisition this year.

NSCX 11, a GE 50 tonner built in 1954 was donated to the Museum by National Steel Car Limited in Hamilton.
